Birmingham-based accommodation provider Sustain UK has been recognised by being shortlisted as a finalist in the Employer of the Year: Gold 50-249 category at The Investors in People Awards 2020.
Sustain UK, founded in 2009, provides a life home for vulnerable adults marginalised in society, including individuals with mental health issues, learning disabilities, forensic backgrounds, drug and alcohol problems and those who are homeless. The organisation operates across Birmingham and in the surrounding areas of the West Midlands.
It is not the first time that Sustain UK has been recognised by Investors in People. The organisation was first awarded investors in people in the year 2008, before winning Investors in People Silver Awards in 2011 and 2014. In 2017, Sustain UK was accredited with the higher Investors in People Gold Award, and then again in November 2019 following successful ISO 19001 Quality and 14001 Environmental Standards audits in 2018.
Sustain UK CEO Pauline Hughes commented: “I am delighted with the positive feedback we have received...and am truly happy that our staff consider working with Sustain UK Limited to be a ‘positive experience’.”
Writing in The Parliamentary Review, Hughes added: “As an organisation, we believe that vulnerable adults are entitled to live in a safe, clean and comfortable home. Without these basic necessities, none of us would be able to thrive.
“Along with the challenge of maintaining high standards of accommodation, also come achievements. We are very proud of our high standards as an organisation, and we feel they ensure our tenants the maximum level of safety we can offer.
“Sustain has an invaluable staff team, for which we have been commended by Investors in People.”
The Investors in People Awards have been independently assessed and verified as a Gold trusted awards scheme by The Independent Awards Standards Council [TIASC].
Chris Robinson, managing director of TIASC, said: “The Investors in People Awards set exceptionally high standards, and it is clear that in every facet of the programme’s design and execution the organisers have been proactive in finding ways to ensure the awards are completely fair and wholly trustworthy.”
Investors in People CEO Paul Devoy confirmed to all 2020 finalists that the annual gala dinner celebrating the awards at Old Billingsgate, London, has been cancelled due to the ongoing Covid-19 situation, but the winners will be announced online on November 24.
The Leaders Council wishes everyone at Sustain UK the best of luck.
