He has authored/co-authored/edited over 700 publications including peer reviewed research papers, review articles, books and expert opinions. He has supervised over 100 PhD students from all over the world including India, China, Pakistan, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Syria, USA, Sri Lanka, Iraq and Iran. He mentored dozens of young professionals who have gone into achieving senior positions as Deans. University Directors of Research, Heads of Departments and directors in academia and industry. He has held visiting Professorships in USA, China, Italy, Portugal, and UK. In addition, he has taught thousands of undergraduate students in six UK universities 

Professor Ahmed holds the chair in Nanoscience at the University of Lincoln, is the President of the Young Professional Society and is a Certified Silva Method Instructor.
