The Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals [CIPP] will today launch its Annual Conference and Exhibition, with proceedings getting underway from 10:15 BST.
The two-day conference, which runs over October 6 and October 7, provides an opportunity for industry professionals to come together and educate, collaborate and celebrate all things related to payroll, pensions and reward.
The 2021 conference is being hosted virtually, to ensure it is accessible to everyone. It includes ten informative sessions across the two days, covering key issues such as the status of IR35, the impact of Brexit on payroll, compliance with National Minimum Wage, a legal perspective looking at pensions contributions and record keeping, as well as a highly anticipated CIPP policy update.
The policy update, said to be an essential event for any industry operator, will see the CIPP policy team outline what payroll professionals across the UK can expect from the chancellor’s autumn Budget and discuss the implications of the new social care levy.
A special opening session on this first day of the conference will feature guest speaker Michael Edwards, more widely known as ‘Eddie the Eagle’, who became the first competitor since 1928 to represent Great Britain in Olympic ski jumping at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, Canada.
The second day of the conference will include the hosting of The CIPP Annual Excellence Awards 2021, where the winners of accolades in ten different categories will be revealed.
The ten honours are an increase on the customary six awards that are usually allocated in these awards each year, with four new categories included in this year’s line-up.
New accolades for 2021 include the ‘Best Covid-19 Crisis Response Award’, ‘The CIPP Bright Beginnings Award’ for new payroll, pensions and reward professionals who have made an outstanding contribution to the industry, ‘The CIPP Spotlight Award’ targeted at outstanding professionals capable of working at any level within the sector regardless of their current position, and ‘The Luminary Award’ which will celebrate and recognise an individual that has demonstrated outstanding leadership within their organisation or across the wider industry and has had a positive, inspirational impact on the career of others.
The CIPP Annual Excellence Awards are the longest-running, independent awards in the industry having been established to recognise and celebrate the critical role that payroll and pensions play in keeping the UK economy running.
Readers from the payroll, pensions and reward industry who wish to book their place for this year’s CIPP Annual Conference and Exhibition can do so here.
