Barking Enterprise Centre to host Business Enterprise Workshop on March 25

Barking Enterprise Centre is hosting a two-hour online Business Enterprise Workshop from 10:00am to 12:00pm GMT on March 25, where aspiring entrepreneurs and those considering becoming self-employed can network and seek specialist advice.

According to Barking Enterprise Centre CIC chief executive, Karen West-Whylie, the event is ideal for those looking to go into business who may have strong entrepreneurial ideas but lack the skills and experience to put them into practice.

West-Whylie said: “This session is perfect for budding entrepreneurs and other aspiring leaders who may be considering going self-employed or starting a business. We want to provide a space for them to gather some general information of what they need to think about before they actually start.

“For instance, when starting a business, it is important to have an idea of certain mistakes to avoid as well as certain must-dos, so the workshop will also be highlighting some of the examples of businesses that have failed and why that came to be the case.”

Some of the topics covered in the workshop include what it means to be self-employed, and the personal attributes needed to run a business; where to go for help, research and information; the types of business entities that one’s business could be; basic information regarding VAT and tax payable; how to market one’s business; location and logistics; and how to formulate a business plan, and what that business plan must include, varying from cash flow forecasts, financing and where to borrow money from if needed.

Any individuals interested in attending the remote workshop can register online here.
