2021 reflections: Techbuyer celebrates awards successes and aims to drive sustainability forward in New Year

2021 proved to be an exciting year for server, storage and networking equipment specialist Techbuyer. Despite the ongoing challenge of the pandemic, the business has continued growing, investing into developing its global team, and served more customers than ever before.

Industry accolades also played a major part in Techbuyer’s most recent year in business, with the company taking pride of place alongside some of the technology sector’s biggest names in being recognised for its achievements.

Building on its receipt of the Queen’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade in 2020, Techbuyer secured a Gold Stevie Award for Company of the Year at the International Business Awards in autumn 2021 and scooped the Sustainable IT Organisation of the Year Award at the UK IT Industry Awards.

Techbuyer’s content specialist, Charlotte Nixon, commented: “Our awards and nominations demonstrate our commitment to strive for excellence in the technology sector and provide industry-leading, value-driven, sustainable IT solutions for the benefit of all our customers.”

For certain, Techbuyer’s success in the sustainability category at the UK IT Industry Awards was demonstrative of how the company is striving to put more sustainable ways of working at the heart of all its activities.

Nixon added: “Our commitment to providing sustainable solutions sits at the very core of everything we do at Techbuyer. 2021 was truly the year of sustainability for us. Following on from our success in this area in 2020 we are continuing to create a more sustainable business model for ourselves, as well as advising where other companies can do the same with their technology.

“We attended events around the world, both virtually and in-person, spreading the message of a circular IT economy and sustainability in the IT industry. We also launched our sustainability report for 2021 in November of this year, outlining the areas that we have grown, and those that we continue to work hard on to improve.”

This work builds on Techbuyer’s work on becoming a more sustainable business carried out in 2020, which saw the business commit to three of the United Nations’ 17 Global Goals. The aims that the firm committed itself to were to maintain good health and wellbeing, quality education, and responsible consumption and production.

In pursuit of these aims in 2021, Techbuyer switched to a new foam packaging solution across all its UK facilities, which is 100 per cent recyclable and made from 70 per cent recycled materials.

Nixon explained: “We have since set our own personal goals in each of these areas to help the world towards a more sustainable future.

“A key example of our work towards the Global Goals was the implementation of a new foam packaging across our UK facilities. We worked with our packaging supplier to develop Eco Strata, a foam packaging solution that is developed from 70 per cent recycled materials and is also 100 per cent recyclable for our customers.

“We are proud of the effort that our team has put in to improve their facilities and environment for the good of the planet. For example, the German Techbuyer team got their hands dirty on World Cleanup Day 2021 to clear their streets of rubbish!”

As global industry embraces 2022 and the challenges that his New Year is likely to bring with it, Nixon outlined that Techbuyer would seek to prioritise helping its clients become more sustainable with their own technology and make more mindful decisions in technology purchasing and maintenance activities, and in the disposal of used equipment.

“We are committed to helping every customer make the sustainable choice with their IT and we can offer a unique range of services to help achieve this.

“2022 has come around quickly and we are ready and excited for the challenges and opportunities that this next year will present to us. We are looking forward to working with many more companies to help advance sustainability in IT and align ourselves with organisations that share our values and beliefs.

“We will also continue to develop our services and features to constantly improve upon what we can offer our clients. We are excited for everything that we have planned for this year and cannot wait to jump in with new and refreshed efforts to create a sustainable IT sector globally.”
