While hospitality and live shows are still closed, Wolverhampton Grand Theatre have continued to provide excellent entertainment through other means by launching a new vodast. Adrian Jackson, CEO & Creative Director, has also been nominated for a West Midlands Leadership Award for the work he has done lighting the way through a very difficult year.

The new vodcast series will be bringing together Wolverhampton Wanderers FC Players with talent from across the city and beyond in a series of Video-On-Demand podcasts. All proceeds from the new digital programme will be going directly to the theatre’s charity. The charity funds the arts & culture across Wolverhampton, including the theatre’s work with dementia, disabilities, education, and local history.

The first show of Bully and Johnny’s Grand Wolves Show will be in April with a date to be confirmed. Follow the event listing page of the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre to keep up to date on the release. The series is filmed on the theatre stage and will see England footballing legend Steve Bull MBE and Sky TV presenter Johnny Phillips talking to a range of guests including Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant and Wolves legends, “King” John Richards, Don Goodman, Steve Froggatt about all topics from football to fame to friendships.

Robert Plant CBE said,

“Wolverhampton is a very special place to me, a lifelong love affair with Wolves began when I was five years old. It was a life changing moment that has sent me down this path , always in the musical whirl, thanks to a night at the Gaumont in 1963, where Bo Diddley and Little Richard came into my life.

I love the close and dedicated work in the world of theatre, and I am happy to support this series that the Grand are producing as a fundraiser for their charity. Sitting on stage with these guys, who were and remain such an inspiration to me is an unexpected treat in these strange times – talking about my team is the best night out I have had this year (laughs).”

Coinciding with the new digital entertainment programme, Adrian Jackson CEO & Creative Director of the theatre has been shortlisted for ‘Public & Third Sector’ West Midlands Leadership Award fronted by thebusinessdesk.com.

The awards will be a showcase of leadership and individuals that have risen to the occasion under immense pressure over the past year due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. Sam Metcalf, Midlands editor of TheBusinessDesk.com said that “Great leaders change their organisations and they can also change their sectors and regions,

“But what we understand as great leadership has changed. There is now a much greater demand on leaders to be accessible and visible, and there is a much broader range of leadership styles.

“The West Midlands Leadership Awards will showcase those individuals whose leadership is having a significant impact and delivering fantastic outcomes.”

The awards lunch will take place at the Macdonald Burlington, Birmingham, on Friday 9th July
