Over the closing weekend of June 2021, national training provider Vocational Skills Solutions [VSS] joined up with charity The Smallest Things at its ‘Biggest Picnic Weekend’ fundraiser to help support the organisation and raise awareness of its role in supporting some of society’s most vulnerable people.
The Smallest Things is a charity that helps support the families of prematurely born babies, and its work is especially close to the heart of VSS managing director, Phil Juniper.
Juniper said: “As a company, we are delighted to be able to help raise awareness of the great work that The Smallest Things does in supporting families of premature babies. This support is something that is incredibly close to the heart of myself and my family.
“At VSS, we have also adopted the charity’s ‘Employer with a Heart’ policy, which ensures that none of our employees have to worry about their finances or job security should their child arrive in the world prematurely.”
To help support the charity, members of VSS’ regional teams gave up their time over the ‘Biggest Picnic Weekend’ in June, hosting some of their own picnic sessions and working directly with charity workers.
The 'Biggest Picnic Weekend' event invited the charity's supporters to host a fundraising picnic at a time and location of their choosing between June 25 and June 27, with all proceeds going toward helping make the world a better place for premature babies and their families after neonatal care.
During the event, VSS members were able to hear direct accounts from The Smallest Things’ dedicated team about how they work to promote the good health of premature babies and their families.
“Here at VSS we are always keen to help raise awareness of the valuable role that charities and voluntary organisations play in our society”, Juniper added.
“This was a lovely way for us to learn more about the incredible work that The Smallest Things does, and I would like to say a wholehearted ‘well done’ to every member of our team who supported this great event.”
