Earlier this year, the United Colleges Group held its annual Staff Awards, celebrating the achievements of the dedicated staff members of its two constituent colleges: the College of North West London and City of Westminster College.
The judging panel was faced with the unenviable task of whittling more than 100 fantastic nominations down to just 16 winners. Longevity of service was recognised as part of the awards showpiece, with some staff members celebrating over 20 and sometimes over 30 years of service to their institutions.
The achievements of those recognised are made even more remarkable by the fact that although normal life has resumed, educational settings are still feeling the legacy effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and educators are continuing to battle against its impact.
The awards categories for the 2022 UCG Staff Awards were as follows:
- Outstanding Contribution to Teaching and Learning by an Individual or Team
- Outstanding Service Delivery by an Individual or Team
- Outstanding Support for Students by an Individual or Team
- Delivery of Excellent Customer Service by an Individual or Team
- Best Teacher Award
- Best Support Staff Award
- CEO and Group Principal Award
Stephen Davis, group principal and CEO of the United Colleges Group, commented: “On behalf of the governors and the senior leadership team, I would like to send my sincerest congratulations to our nominees and winners of this year’s awards.
“These awards are especially important, given the difficult times we have all come through together. I am immensely proud of our entire staff, they are wonderful to work with and I count them among my colleagues and friends.”
One of the successes of this year’s awards was Lilian Kalejaiye, who picked up the award in the CEO and Group Principal category and was recognised by pupils with the Outstanding Support for Students by an Individual award.
Davis said: “Lilian is an example of one who goes beyond for the students she supports. She is hardworking, calm understanding and resilient.
“This is recognised by the number of repeat visits she has from students to see her especially.”
The Leaders Council echoes the United Colleges Group’s congratulations for its successful staff members at this year’s awards and praises all those who were nominated for their important and incredible work.
