Our latest leadership roundup brings news of a well deserved patronage, HSE is doing spotchecks on warehouses across England and the benefits of regional investment.

Dr Janet Rose Patron of the national Regulation Matters Campaign

The Regulation Matters Campaign seeks to highlight, as one of its main aims, that the nanny sector is unregulated in the UK, which is a safety issue for the young children being left in the care of unregistered nannies. Dr Janet Rose has been nominated as the first Patron of the campaign as it seeks to get ministerial oversight of the sector.

Dr Rose, Principal of Norland College, said ‘I am delighted to accept Regulation Matters’ invitation to become the campaign’s first patron. I am especially pleased to hold this position given that Norland was established in 1892 as the very first educational establishment to offer childcare training, a revolutionary notion at the time, and continues to champion the professionalisation of nannies. I am passionately committed to increasing the regulation of the nanny profession so that we can ensure that all young children can enjoy a high quality and safe environment. I look forward to supporting this critical national campaign.’

Transport sector target of HSE Checks but OMS can help

HSE have announced that they will be focusing on spot checks of the transport and logistics sector in the run up to Christmas. According to the announcement ‘HSE inspectors and local authority officers will be visiting warehouses and distribution centres across the country to make sure workplaces are COVID-secure and following the relevant guidance’.

Due to the current lockdown measures and ever increasing popularity of Black Friday sales, for online retailers, the demand for online shopping will be greater than ever. The checks will be putting the spotlight on an already busy sector making sure there are adequate hygiene facilities.

For over 20 years OMS have provided H&S advice across many sectors and so for any doubts about the correct procedures or to have a consultation they are available on 01530 833533.
