Driver Require CEO Kieran Smith will sit on the judging panel for the 36th Motor Transport Awards.
For over 35 years, the Motor Transport Awards have set the benchmark for excellence among UK road transport fleet operators, vehicle manufacturers and innovators.
Although the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic passed in 2021, the year at large was still an incredibly challenging one for the haulage sector. The industry found itself firmly in the grip of an HGV driver shortage fuelled by the pandemic, an ageing driver workforce and the impact of changes to immigration rules, culminating in supply chain issues and spiralling wages as firms desperately sought to recruit drivers.
As a recogniser of excellence, the Motor Transport Awards seek to this year credit those transport and logistics operators that stood up to the challenge and found means to continue to deliver for UK industry throughout a difficult year.
Given the scale of the challenges that the sector faced over the last year, due recognition of the firms and individuals who have gone above and beyond is more vital than ever before, according to Smith.
Smith said: “I am proud to be named as one of the judges for the 2022 Motor Transport Awards. Recognising excellence in an industry has never been more important, and I’m honoured to play a role in rewarding the huge achievements of the people and companies that went the extra mile in 2021.”
Nominations for awards close on April 22, with the award winners to be announced at this year’s Motor Transport Awards ceremony held at Grosvenor House Hotel, London, on September 7, 2022. Further information, including how to enter the competition or attend the awards showpiece, can be found here.
