Coronavirus update: Lockdown "working" according to government briefing

Published by Leaders Council on April 6th 2020, 4:04pm

Dominic Raab led the coronavirus briefing today, where he said that the PM was in "good spirits" despite being in hospital.

He thanked the NHS for its "heroic work" and said the Foreign Office had brought home more than 40,000 people stranded abroad.

When asked how long lockdown would continue -- the essential question for many Britons -- Professor Chris Whitty said it was "too early" to say.

In Europe, the Spanish death toll has fallen for the fourth day in a row, but it has bucked the trend and unfortunately increased again in Italy.

And Donald Trump has said there is "light at the end of the tunnel" after evidence that things are "levelling off" in the most infected areas of the US.

The next Leaders' Council coronavirus update will follow tomorrow morning.
