Cody Slessor: 10-year-old local boy raises hundreds for charity Frontline Fife

Earlier this year, 10-year-old Kirkcaldy boy Cody Slessor made local headlines after raising more than £400 for homelessness charity, Frontline Fife.

Slessor set up a JustGiving page with the help of his mother, asking people to sponsor him for completing a no sweets or treats challenge for the whole of March.

Explaining the motivations behind the fundraiser, Slessor told Fife Today that he wanted to raise money to help better the lives of homeless people through Frontline Fife’s support.

Pavola Slessor, Cody’s grandmother, told of the Slessor family’s immense pride of Cody’s efforts.

She said: “We are extremely proud what Cody has done to help people who are struggling with homelessness – ever since he was young his heart was always in the right place.

“The challenge has been hard for him as he is sweetie daft, but he managed it and we are all over the moon for him.”

Frontline Fife is a mid-sized Scottish registered charity which works to end homelessness by tackling the underlying causes and symptoms of poverty through early intervention and prevention. It provides a range of commissioned services throughout Fife, including preparation to leave home safely education for young people, 24-hour-access emergency accommodation, visiting support, addictions recovery support, housing advice and lay court representation. More information on the charity’s activities can be found here.
