In celebration of its new partnership with Alder Hey Children’s Charity, Southport Pleasureland has erected a new child-scale “embassy” for the charity within its theme park, which will be opened at a special inauguration on June 1, 2021.
Alder Hey Children’s Charity is a child health organisation of international standing and a world centre of excellence. Southport Pleasureland’s founder, renown international tourism expert Norman Wallis, recently agreed to partner the organisation.
The opening of the new “embassy” within Southport Pleasureland will, according to Wallis, provide the organisation with a "piece of its own territory" within the theme park. The inauguration celebration scheduled for the beginning of June to mark its opening will be attended by local politicians and VIPs, including International Consuls based in the city of Liverpool.
Indeed, the Honorary Consul of San Marino, Dr. Maurizio Bragagni MBA, was so impressed by the initiative that he wrote a letter to the charity's child ambassadors:
"The Honorary Consul of San Marino was very pleased to learn about the establishment of the first ever children’s charity embassy and would like to extend his warm wishes and every success toward fulfilling its noble mission.
"The Alder Hey Children’s Charity Embassy at Southport Pleasureland will play an important role in making sure park visitors will consider supporting a charity that is so important to us all and has proven to do such incredible work to improve healthcare.
"The Hon Consul of San Marino is confident Alder Hey Children’s Charity child ambassadors will offer a great contribution toward further advancing the work to support the transformation of Alder Hey Children’s Hospital to a truly world class, patient-friendly hospital for the 330,000 patients and families they care for each year."
The embassy itself, which is to be constructed at child’s scale, will be adorned with Corinthian columns and gardens.
As part of the inauguration ceremony, a new embassy flag will be raised above the build featuring the embassy’s new crest that will act as a "beacon" for the organisation. The crest [pictured] features “Oli”, the Alder Hey Children’s Charity’s elephant mascot.
Wallis commented: “All charities have had challenges during Covid. My commitment in tourism and entertainment is to make families happy, so this partnership was perfect for all parties.
“We are all incredibly pleased with the new flag design which will proudly be flying above the new embassy build in the Pleasureland park, and it will act as a beacon for our charity partner moving forward.”
