Beyond Paper Straws: Exploring practical actions to address the climate crisis

The Leaders Council welcomed Sophia Chang, founder of With Many Roots & Ben Tolhurst, Director of Business Declares to run a session with member organisations, opening the conversation around what business can do to put climate positive policies across their working practices.

Sophia Chang has a decade of experience working in communication in the for-profit and non-profit sectors alike. She now works exclusively around the climate conversation running workshops, mentoring and writing on the issues surrounding climate education through her organisation With Many Roots.

Ben Tolhurst currently leads the property and asset management business for JLL and he is the Head of UK Managed Services. He is also the Director of ‘Business Declares’, a not for profit that helps organisations take positive steps to address their environmental footprint.

In November the UK will be hosting the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference, otherwise known as COP26. It will be the first time that countries come together to reaffirm their commitment to lowering carbon emissions since the Paris agreement was signed in 2015.

The UK is already taking positive steps to reach their targets and this year we will, no doubt, be hearing a lot from Alok Sharma about what steps businesses can take to do their part.

The session was designed to start that process by giving a taster of where the UK currently sits and what steps business leaders can take to embed an ecological culture into their business practices.

The session can be watched here:
