The following is a statement issued by Anthony Lowe MBE, CEO of Hornchurch-based social care provider, Tapestry Care UK Ltd. In it, Lowe outlines Tapestry's acknowledgement of the crisis and what it has been doing to help.
Although we are under financial pressure due to rising prices and fuel costs here at Tapestry, we are becoming increasingly aware that people are struggling to eat properly due to the cost-of-living squeeze, so we want to do all that we can to help.
This is crucial as most of our clients have dementia and benefit from our services. We know that those who need our services most are hardest hit and cannot access much needed additional support, or worse still, are having to reduce the support they receive from us due to the cost of living crisis.
To support our clients to continue receiving the care they need, have access to food, and provide carers with the respite they require, we have come up with a solution to help minimise this issue.
Starting from June 1, 2022 and lasting for three months, we have been providing free meals to our clients on the days that they attend, once they have attended for three days.
This ensures that they have access to hot healthy meals and can save up to £106 a month, which will help pay for other expenses such as gas and electricity.
