Earlier this year, Techbuyer took its next step in improving the sustainability of the IT and data centre industry. Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do at Techbuyer, and so we were thrilled that in April this year we were announced as a corporate member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment [IEMA], the professional body for anybody working, studying or interested in sustainability.
In being named a corporate partner, Techbuyer joined the ranks amongst other much larger businesses, including Lego, BAE Systems and Jacobs, as well as public sector bodies, such as the Department of Education and the Ministry of Defence. All corporate members are dedicated to improving the sustainability of our individual industries to create a better future globally.
“Being part of IEMA will give us the ability to exchange information with our peers from different sectors and ultimately allows us to improve our understanding of how technology fits into the bigger picture,” said Astrid Wynne, Techbuyer Sustainability Lead on the announcement.
"Even better, it offers us the opportunity to upskill our staff and our business contacts with externally accredited sustainability training, which is really important in the current climate.”
Key Points:
- As a corporate member of IEMA, we are able to share information with other organisations and offer sustainability training to our employees.
- This announcement followed only two years after Techbuyer was named Circular Economy Business of the Year at the 2020 IEMA Awards, and one year after we were named Sustainable Organisation of the Year at the 2021 UK IT Industry Awards.
- Techbuyer has always been a strong advocate for sustainability in the data centre and IT industry. In 2019 we signed up to be a contributor to the UN Sustainable Development Goals to help advance the cause for a sustainable future.
IEMA is a professional body dedicated to transforming the world to sustainability. Find out more about what they do, and their corporate membership here.
