PayByPhone UK renews partnership with Lambeth Council

PayByPhone UK, one of the fastest growing mobile payment companies, has announced that it has renewed its longstanding partnership with Lambeth Council in London.

The local authority of the London Borough of Lambeth first partnered with PayByPhone in 2012, with this new deal guaranteeing a continuation of their relationship until 2025.

PayByPhone UK has long been committed to reducing carbon emissions and fighting climate change, having become Carbon Neutral Certified in 2019 and handed Carbon Neutral Plus status last year.

This very same emphasis on environmental stewardship has been very much at the heart of Lambeth Borough Council’s work, with the local authority having placed sustainability at the forefront of its digital transformation programme.

Lambeth has also committed itself to providing better air quality for all its residents and as such was one of the first local councils to remove pay and display parking machines from its jurisdiction to reduce emissions from vehicles.

In a bid to encourage drivers to opt for new, greener vehicles, Lambeth has also signed up for PayByPhone’s new emissions based Emitless product, which links parking tariffs directly to vehicle emissions or fuel categories.

Speaking to The Parliamentary Review, PayByPhone UK CEO Jonny Combe said: “The environment is a mainstay of PayByPhone’s business approach, and while not all the environmental problems facing us can be solved overnight, there are steps that every business or organisation can take to reduce their carbon footprint.

“No matter how successful or large PayByPhone becomes, our commitment to the environment will remain, as will our desire to support our clients on their own environmental journeys.”
