YMCA Derbyshire has been selected as one of Derbion’s charity partners in a deal that will run until the end of January 2023.
As part of the new charity partnership, YMCA Derbyshire’s dedicated team will be working with 140 members of Derbion staff to raise vital funds and awareness for those they serve.
YMCA Derbyshire currently has 197 beds around Derby and the wider county of Derbyshire and provides one-to-one tailored support for residents of their accommodation units. The charity also provides training and education opportunities to more than 157 young people each year for whom mainstream education does not suit their needs.
YMCA Derbyshire and Derbion will collaborate on raising funds through a strategy of events, volunteering exercises, maximising marketing opportunities within the Derbion centre and providing young people with valuable work experience.
Derbion general manager, Adam Tamsett, commented: “We were overwhelmed with the response to our new Derbion Cares initiative. We know how incredibly hard it has been for the region’s charities over the past couple of years, and we wanted to help as many as we could.
“With Derbion sitting in the heart of the city, our Derbion Cares Committee were keen to support organisations that are focused on tackling some of the key issues facing our community. The three selected charities are all organisations that we believe we can help to make an even bigger impact over the year ahead.”
Gillian Sewell, CEO at YMCA Derbyshire, was delighted for her organisation to have been selected by Derbion as one of its three charity partners.
She said: “We’re over the moon to be one of the Derbion’s chosen charities. Working together will provide so many opportunities for the young people and community members that we support.
“It means the world to our YMCA to have been selected and we can’t wait to see what a difference our charity and Derbion can make together.”
