Opus Land reports that groundworks are underway for the construction of a new office facility in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, that will be occupied by gas distribution network owners and operators, Cadent Gas.
The new scheme is being developed by Opus Land and funded by the Fiera Real Estate Long Income Fund UK.
The Planetary Road site, which stretches over 2.95 acres, is set to become a major regional hub for Cadent, comprising of 25,000 square-feet of Grade A office space and 5,300 square-foot warehouse building.
Opus Land says that the scheme has been designed to achieve leading ESG standards, including a BREEAM Excellent and EPC A rating.
Meanwhile, some of the sustainable features of the new facility include solar panels on the roof to supplement power supply, rainwater harvesting for toilet flushing and ten per cent of car parking spaces equipped with EV charging points.
Planning permission was granted for the development earlier in 2021, with construction set to be completed within the second quarter of next year.
Once construction is done, Cadent Gas will be welcomed into the premises on a 20-year lease.
Building firm MCS Group has already been busy with mobilisation and enabling works, with the site being prepared for the first phase of construction.
