Total QSR commercial director Sarah Herridge will feature in Cotswold Life Magazine’s March 2020 issue as part of its International Women’s Day coverage.

The International Women’s Day issue of Cotswold Life will be available from March 24, and within it, Herridge addresses how she quickly got to grips with the commercial catering, electrical and refrigeration engineering industry upon joining the family business in 2013, and how she has since played a part in helping the company embark on a journey of growth.

In parts of the interview with Cotswold Life, Herridge is quizzed on a number of elements of her own leadership journey within business, including what advice she would give to younger, aspiring leaders during such trying times.

Herridge’s response was to urge young entrepreneurs not to be averse to change and to embrace opportunities to try new things.

Herridge says: “Change is not something to be afraid of! Research what you are intending to implement. Try it out, Monitor and analyse how the change has impacted and don’t be worried to admit if it doesn’t work out and then try something else. Consistent analysis and reflection of performance is paramount.”

Asked later on in the interview about what sort of advice she would give to her younger self if she were able to go back in time, Herridge explained that she would tell the younger version of herself to abandon the notion that one can always be in control of everything which happens within their business and befalls their business thanks to exterior forces, and instead be ready to address any issues as and when they arise, whatever they may be, and maintain a cool head.

“If I could go back in time, I’d tell myself while the notion of being able to control outcomes is a pleasant one, it’s not always possible or realistic. Things happen for a reason and the only thing you can do is prepare well in the first instance and if the outcome changes, do not panic.”
