DPAA, the global trade marketing association which connects out-of-home [OOH] media with the wider advertising community, announced in May that Talon America CEO, Jim Wilson, will join its board of directors.
The DPAA board also includes the organisation’s Brand CEO Council, further delivering on DPAA’s mission to connect out-of-home media with the advertising community.
Wilson is the US CEO of London-based OOH media specialist, Talon Outdoor. His role involves growing Talon’s award-winning, independent OOH technology and services across the Atlantic for some of the biggest brands and agencies in the world.
With offices across the US, Talon America is expanding rapidly through organic revenue growth, as well as strategic acquisitions and partnerships, including the recently announced partnership between Talon and Buntin Out-of-Home Media.
Earlier in his career, Wilson was behind the establishment of Premion, the market-leading and award-winning OTT/CTV advertising services and technology platform borne out of a joint venture between TEGNA and Gray Television. He has also held several US and global leadership positions, including chief operating officer of TouchTunes, a venue-based digital music platform and OOH advertising company, and was CEO and a member of the board at Atari.
At other points in his professional life, Wilson founded the games business at Universal Studios and became global development lead for the now defunct Vivendi Universal Games.
Speaking about the DPAA’s decision to appoint Wilson, its president and CEO, Barry Frey, commented: “In what is sure to be a rebound year for advertising and out-of-home advertising, it’ll be great to have Jim on our board helping to guide the industry.
“His knowledge and experience working across many forms of digital media and this current buy-side role gives the organisation a unique point of view.”
Wilson joins the DPAA board with experience in buy-side roles, having served media owners, programmatic companies, research, and data firms in such a capacity.
Following his appointment, Wilson said: “The DPAA led by Barry Frey and its notable board is making significant impact in driving the digital OOH industry forward through education, effective thought leadership, and defining and setting industry standards and practices.
“This past year emphasised the importance of the flexibility, automation, and creativity that DOOH delivers for marketers looking for audiences and outcomes as part of a cross-platform buy. DOOH is on an accelerated growth trajectory and I look forward to working with the DPAA to further drive advocacy for the medium with brands, agencies, and industry partners.”
