Sustainability champion Techbuyer joins IEMA as corporate member

Techbuyer, a sustainable IT solutions provider, has become a corporate member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment [IEMA] as part of its ongoing commitment to best practice in sustainability.

The IEMA is the professional body for all who work, study or are interested in the environment and sustainability. As a corporate member, Techbuyer joins the ranks of much larger companies such as Lego, BAE Systems and Jacobs, as well as public sector bodies like the Department of Education [DfE], the Department for Environment and Rural Affairs [DEFRA] and the Ministry of Defence [MoD], who are committed to improving their systems and standing in the sustainability arena.

Astrid Wynne, Techbuyer’s sustainability lead, commented: “Being part of IEMA will give us the ability to exchange information with our peers from different sectors and ultimately allow us to improve our understanding of how technology fits into the bigger picture.

“Even better, it offers us the opportunity to upskill our staff and our business contacts with externally accredited sustainability training, which is really important in the current climate.”

Techbuyer’s corporate membership of IEMA is part of its dedication to sustainability as a core company value.

The announcement comes less than two years after Techbuyer secured the Circular Economy Organisation of the Year accolade at the 2020 IEMA Awards. It also went on to win Sustainable Organisation of the Year at the 2021 UK IT Industry Awards in recognition of its tireless work internally and within the IT sector on materials and energy efficiency, support of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
