Technology business Spinnaker International has recently launched its new CrimeTag technology, which acts as a forensic marker tagging physical goods with a unique DNA fingerprint.
Initially developed for use in the cash industry, CrimeTag is a cost-effective, invisible, non-hazardous liquid which is compatible with ATM protection systems, cash degradation devices, fogging systems, and notably, marking goods of value.
The forensic technology’s marking of physical assets makes it easy to detect stolen items and provides a means of tracing ownership and providing a link between stolen goods and criminal suspects.
CrimeTag technology responds to specific light frequencies and gives a ‘presence positive’ response, making it easy to detect on goods that are suspected to have been acquired illegally.
Once the presence of CrimeTag technology on an item has been confirmed, the sample can be forensically analysed to link the recovered sample with the original, as well as the Spinnaker equipment it was supplied with. This forensic identification forms part of an evidence chain linking suspects to specific theft crimes.
