Re-Instate launch Living Well programme

A new programme is being run by Re-Instate, a charity based in Erith that work to improve employment opportunities, quality of life and well-being for disadvantaged people in the London Borough of Bexley. The new programme will hundreds of adults with learning disabilities to develop life skills and boost confidence.

The ‘Living Well’ scheme will be offering courses and workshops to groups on a variety of topics. From relationship building and keeping fit to staying safe and money management.

The programme of courses is being funded through a grant from the City Bridge Trust. Re-instate has been given a grant of £170,000 to help fund the courses over a five year period. The City of London Corporations charity funder gives out £25 million each year to worthwhile causes across the capital.

Simon Hart, CEO of Re-Instate, said ‘’ “We hope this programme will enable a substantial number of people to come out of it feeling more confident and more able to live independently and to deal with whatever is thrown at them – we’ll consider that a great success.”

“The real benefit of the Living Well scheme is that it will take a holistic approach in helping people to improve their wellbeing in all kinds of ways, from maintaining a healthy balanced diet on a budget to feeling more confident with money.”

The Living Well programme will base its activities on The New Economics Foundation’s ‘Five Ways to Wellbeing’ – in which people are encouraged to connect with others, be active, take notice of the world around them, keep learning and help others.
