Radical Motorsport has recently announced the appointment of US-based Tom Drewer as the company’s new global motorsport director.
Drewer’s promotion comes as part of Radical’s strategy to expand its already extensive global single make racing programme. In his new role, Drewer [pictured] will be responsible for overseeing the operation of Radical’s three factory-run racing championships and nine factory supported championships.
Working from his base in Atlanta, Georgia, Drewer will oversee the operation of the Radical Cup North America and the Radical Challenge and Radical SR1 Cup in the United Kingdom, using his extensive motorsport experience as a competitor and manager to drive the continued growth of these three championships.
Outside of this, Drewer will also work with Radical’s global dealer network, and will assist them in running their own one-make Radical championships in their home markets.
Drewer is well poised for the position having been immersed in the sport at all levels, from amateur to professional, throughout his life. Drewer himself competed in his native homeland of Australia in a variety of disciplines and machinery including V8 Supercars, before heading to the US as a factory driver for West Race Cars in the 2008 IMSA Prototype Lites 2 championship, which he went on to dominate. Further outings included a subsequent season in Lites 1, tests in LMPC and GT2 machinery and guest drives in the Grand-Am Sportscar Challenge, Australian F3 and Aussie Racing Cars.
Drewer first joined Radical in 2014 and was a key part of the team which expanded the brand’s dealer network with key appointments in California, Western Canada, Arizona and New York, and established Radical as the preeminent car for Country Club racetracks across the continent. The Blue Marble Radical Cup series has also seen consistent growth, doubling grid sizes from 2016 to 2021, with fields of over 30 cars supporting IndyCar events and racing at America’s premiere circuits.
Following his appointment as Radical’s new global motorsport director, Drewer commented: “I’ve been lucky to experience the sport from grassroots to professional levels and I’m careful to always consider things from the competitor’s perspective.
“In the US, we’ve focused on raising the on-track competition to gain credibility as a development series, while creating as much camaraderie and atmosphere off the track as possible. In other words, making Radical Cup racing as fun and rewarding as possible. I’m looking forward to injecting these same attributes into all facets of Radical motorsport across the globe.”
Radical Sportscars CEO, Joe Anwyll, echoed Drewer’s comments, reinforcing the company’s commitment to global racing.

Radical has enjoyed unprecedented growth as it heads into its 25th year in operation, building and selling more cars in 2021 than at any other time in its history.
The Radical SR3 XX and SR10 models benefit from a suite of updates for 2022, and after its first full year of production, the Radical SR10 has become the fastest-selling car in Radical’s history, with over 100 examples already sold.
A 32-strong global dealer network underpins all this growth, and there are now 12 factory-supported Radical racing championships across four different continents, including the Radical Challenge UK and the Radical Cup North America.
