National Lottery funding for increased services and support for people with autism

Space4Autism has announced a two-year project to provide new and enhanced services for people of all ages with autism and their families.

The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest supporter of community activity in the UK, is supporting the project “Revive and Strive” to the tune of £195,442 over two years.

The funding will provide a new outreach project to engage with families and to support them following the pandemic, a counselling service to support people to cope with issues such as depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions, an expansion of the successful Open Space drop in project and the recruitment of a volunteer co-ordinator to encourage new volunteers at the charity.

Cheryl Simpson MBE, chief executive of Space4Autism, who will be leading the project, said: "We are delighted to receive this funding from the National Lottery Community Fund.

"It will make a massive positive difference to the lives of people with autism and their families as we all start the recovery from the pandemic."

Space4Autism is a Macclesfield based charity that serves communities from throughout CheshireEast and further afield.

It currently delivers 3,500 activities a year, supporting over 4.400 individuals.
