M3 Floodtec completes Corinthia Hotel project

Flood prevention product supplier M3 Floodtec is a firm with extensive experience in providing innovative flood resilience solutions to commercial, industrial and domestic premises. One of its most recent completed commercial projects was carried out at London’s five-star Corinthia Hotel.

Situated in the heart of Whitehall, the Corinthia is a luxury hotel with 283 bedrooms and a fantastic reputation for quality and service.

Following recent flood events in London, maintaining everyday operations and ensuring protection from surface water flooding has been a major consideration for the Corinthia’s management team. M3 Floodtec designed a full protection proposal and subsequently installed a flood protection portfolio to maintain the building’s security against flash flooding.

M3 Floodtec managing director, Peter Marchant, commented: "With an extensive network of basement rooms and corridors which house the critical functions required to run the hotel, it was deemed essential to keep these free from surface water flooding at all times.

“With over 10 separate accesses to the lower levels and a network of underground drainage channels, free and unrestricted access needed to be maintained yet deployable flood protection had to be readily available for rapid deployment.

“To overcome these issues, we proposed a Defender deployable barrier system augmented with pipe bungs and sump and pump units operated by automatic float switches. This system can be deployed in minutes if required and has minimal restrictions to the operations of the hotel.”
