Earlier this year, a delegation from Crowder Consulting attended the IWA biennial Water Loss Conference held at Prague’s Conference Centre in Czechia.
Based in Birkenhead in the Wirral, Merseyside, Crowder Consulting specialises in water network consultancy, software development, data analysis and field services. The company was a silver sponsor for the conference, which unfolded over June 20-22 and was attended by over 300 delegates from 52 different countries.
It was the first time in almost four years that the conference was held in person rather than virtually to enable water industry specialists to come together, owing to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic in more recent years. The previous in-person IWA Water Loss Conference had taken place in Cape Town, South Africa.
Crowder Consulting’s party of five which attended the conference and occupied a booth there included managing director George Crowder, alongside directors Tom Crowder, Gillian Sowden and Sharif Elnagar, as well as senior project manager David Kirby.
Tom was chairperson for one of the conference sessions under the banner of “Innovative AI and Modelling Solutions”. He also presented a very well received paper titled “Best Practice Techniques to Reduce Leakage in Urban and Rural DMAs”, as part of the “NRW Strategy Design” session.
The range of papers and topics presented and discussed throughout the event provided attendees with insights into the latest developments and initiatives across the global water industry, which will help reduce leakage and save potable water from being lost.
Managing director, George Crowder, commented: “One of the key features of the Prague IWA conference, was the evident progress in advanced technologies for leakage reduction strategies. Many leading vendors were present and presenting their technologies and solutions. We have developed working relationships with them to partner and utilise their equipment and services in our field services for our clients. We will continue to work closely with them for providing integrated solutions in our Netbase Digital Services platform with our NetOps and NetAlytics applications. Our integrated approach, will provide important and added value benefits to our clients in supporting the challenges of leakage and NRW reduction.”
