Carmarthenshire charity CYCA [Connecting Youth, Children and Adults] has been named 2021 Charity of the Year by CK Foodstores, supported by local business network Elli BNI - Llanelli, and Llanelli Town Council Mayor, Councillor Mike Cranham.
CYCA is a registered children’s charity operating across Carmarthenshire and elsewhere in Wales. Its services include providing support for early years children and a wellbeing play setting for three-to-11-year-olds. It also offers accredited training to families and a preventative and crisis support service for families, young people, and children.
CK Foodstores, the largest independent food retailer in southwest Wales, named CYCA its Charity of the Year in recognition of its incredible efforts during a testing 2021. During this time, CYCA has successfully digitised its services to deliver training online, as well as launching a range of fitness classes over Zoom in the lockdown period to help keep local families active.
CYCA CEO Tracy Pike MBE said: “Over the last year we have had to adapt all our services so that we can continue to deliver our training online and it has been an immense undertaking.
“CK Foodstores have been amazing by making funding readily available for us, and we’ve allocated that not just to services for the children but also helping some of the mothers as well. To now be named their Charity of the Year for the work we’ve done is testament to the huge effort our team has put in. I am immensely proud of everyone who helped make this possible.”
