Leadership Round-Up: Dentistry practice shortlisted for award, taking care of your business affairs with RfM, what’s on at Autism Plus

On November 4, 2022, the Private Dentistry Awards return for their annual showpiece with winners across 15 categories set to be named.

The awards chaired by Dr David Houston recognise outstanding dentistry carried out by stellar teams and individuals.

Hoping to be successful at this year's awards - the ceremony for which will be held at Park Plaza, Westminster Bridge in London - is Orpington-based private dentistry practice H Williams and Associates.

Practice owner and principal, Heather Williams, has been shortlisted in the Practice Principal of the Year category for the South region. Meanwhile, the practice as a whole is in contention for Practice of the Year in the Southeast.

Everybody at The Leaders Council wishes the H Williams and Associates team the very best of luck!

Taking care of business

RfM Accountants + More has recently published a blog on its website challenging business leaders with a key question: “what would actually happen within your business if you were no longer there to run things as leader?”

The consequences of an accident, sudden illness or loss of capacity can be serious for small business owners and it is often something that entrepreneurs have not thoroughly thought about. It is for this reason that RfM recommends that business executives put Lasting Powers of Attorney in place to ensure that “business as usual” can remain even in the leader’s absence.

Within SMEs especially, it is often the owner’s responsibility to make important decisions, manage the finances and pay the wages, meaning that anything happening to them can culminate in major disruption.

RfM advises that whether you’re a sole trader, sole director, partnership business, Limited company shareholder or even a married couple holding separate bank accounts, a Lasting Power of Attorney to cover the business as well as personal matters could prove invaluable when problems leading to absence strike.

Doing this RfM says, will empower a nominated attorney to step in and act on behalf of the leader on a temporary basis, until they're in a position to return to work.

Readers interested in finding out more about Lasting Powers of Attorney for their business and personal financial affairs can contact RfM’s client relationship manager Sharon Rigden via email at srigden@rfmlegal.co.uk to arrange a free consultation. Autism Plus to be active on careers front in November

Sheffield-based Autism Plus is an organisation that supports adults and young people living with autism, learning disabilities, mental health conditions and complex needs.
