The past week has seen leaders across the world juggling problems at home and abroad. The UK is cautiously looking to ease itself out of lockdown restrictions through an accelerated vaccination programme. The EU has fallen afoul of limited supplies and it seems as though President Macron is attempting to limit that scarcity by casting doubt on the quality of British, Chinese and Russian vaccines. Joe Biden is putting his stamp on the Presidency and moving away from some of his predecessors confused relationships with other world leaders by standing up to Russia.
Though today there are some signs of hope - the numbers of Covid patients in hospital are beginning to fall for the first time since the onset of this new wave - the level of infection is still alarmingly high.

What it means is that in the medium to long run it is almost sure that if this vaccine is not appropriate it will facilitate the emergence of new variants, it will absolutely not fix the situation of these countries
Joe Biden
‘’I made it clear to President [Vladimir] Putin, in a manner very different from my predecessor, that the days of the United States rolling over in the face of Russia's aggressive actions… are over.’’
