kulpa has been honoured at the fourth annual Digital Jersey TechAwards after having been named most successful start-up.
kulpa had been shortlisted in two categories at the awards showpiece, held on March 25, 2022 at the Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel in Jersey’s capital, Saint Helier. The awards are geared toward recognising individuals, teams and businesses that made a positive difference through their application of technology over 2021.
For kulpa CEO Simon Franc, the award was testament to the incredibly hard work the entire team had put in since the company launched.
Franc said: “It is rather fitting that the States of Jersey was the first place that we launched Injury Capture, now kulpa, and six months later it’s had such a positive impact that we now receive the award for most successful start-up, and we are enormously proud of it.
“We have come a long way since the beginning of our journey, and recognition like this is really appreciated and valuable as we share our message that anybody can capture and securely store legally admissible evidence to give themselves options for their future.
“By empowering those who suffer at the hands of others, whether it be abuse, assault, harassment, or indeed any other crime or civil dispute, we help them reach safety and get justice in whatever form they need. It’s encouraging that the app has now been downloaded by thousands across the world, including in Jersey, the UK, France, the US, Canada, Portugal, Australia and India to name but a few countries.
“Thank you to all my employees who have worked tirelessly to build the Injury Capture app and now the kulpa app. Thank you also to Tony Moretta and all those at Digital Jersey for your support in helping us in so many ways. Jersey is an amazing place and a brilliant place to build and develop world changing technology. A special thanks must also go to the States of Jersey Police for being the first to acknowledge the app’s potential and utilise it to help victims and survivors.”
Speaking about the awards, Digital Jersey CEO Tony Moretta commented: “I was incredibly proud of our island this evening, as we saw the incredible achievements of winner after winner. It is the huge range of what is being created here in our small Island, that never fails to amaze me. From an app to capture legally admissible evidence for victims of crime, to the incredibly important support work that our IT firms provide for other businesses.”
The kulpa app enables users to capture and securely store legally admissible evidence. By storing evidence on the kulpa cloud, users are then able to forward the evidence onto the police to formally report a criminal incident, and can even send the evidence on to a civil lawyer.
