British signage manufacturer Hardy Signs celebrates its 28th anniversary in August 2021.
Founded back in 1993 by Nik Hardy from his home garage, the business has gone from strength-to-strength and established itself over the years as the UK’s leading professional and digital signage supplier across a wide range of sectors.
After 28 years in business, Hardy Signs has designed, manufactured and installed over 1,000,000 signs.
The last ten years have seen the firm make significant investments into sustainable machinery, manufacturing techniques and recycling, which have culminated in the publication of Hardy Signs’ Environmental Vision Statement. Meanwhile, the company’s current premises are adorned with 200 roof solar panels to help ensure the site is powered by green energy.
The business’ first unit was rented back in 1995, back when projects primarily consisted of hand-painted signs and vehicles, predominantly for breweries and pubs across Burton-On-Trent. When Hardy Signs started working for national and international organisations such as the NHS, Plastic Omnium, Muller, Nestle, etc., the team changed several units until they moved to the company’s current headquarters on Hardy Place, in 2011.
Key to the long-term mission of Hardy Signs has been high-quality customer service, investment in people and maintaining a close connection to the community. Over the last 36 months, 100 per cent of the young professionals in the company have been taking training intending to strengthen ‘homegrown’ talent.
Furthermore, the year 2016 brought the establishment of the Hardy Signs ‘Signs and Print Academy’ in partnership with Burton and South Derbyshire College, which is dedicated to upskilling and developing young talents in all areas of the sign and print industry.
The company has also been recognised for its achievements with numerous awards over the last ten years, including ‘Manufacturer of the Year’ in 2019 and 2020, respectively, at the East Midlands Chamber and Staffordshire Chamber awards. Recently they were also nominated for ‘Excellence in Manufacturing’ with the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce.
With 28 successful years behind them, many more years of progress are certain to follow for Hardy Signs.
