Despite the Covid-19 pandemic coming as a challenging and sensitive time for so many people in the UK and wider world, a silver lining that has come about through the crisis in this country is a true sense of national unity, where all citizens have been pulling together in support of the NHS and many have contributed toward providing vital services to vulnerable people in their communities.
Flexiclean Group, a leading Edinburgh cleaning company, has sought to play its part through the lockdown period by partnering with charitable organisations to offer vulnerable clients a free deep-cleaning service.
Operations manager Hector Quintero, whose own brother suffers from cerebral palsy and falls into the vulnerable category, told the Scotsman that he and the Flexiclean team are offering the service to help properly sanitise the homes of people living with disabilities and illness to ensure that they are able to shield in clean settings.
Speaking back in May, Quintero said: “We have been in touch with one cerebral palsy organisation to see how we can help them and their clients, and we’d love to hear from any other organisations who would benefit from a free deep clean at this time.
"These are worrying times for many people, both for those who are classed as vulnerable and also to businesses who are facing a huge challenge at the moment.
"We want people to know that we are Edinburgh's industry-leading experts and we're ready to help with infection control at short notice: we have a 70 per cent faster delivery time than our competitors, thanks to our technology, and we guarantee a rapid response."
Flexiclean, established in 2010, is renown for providing an efficient and reliable cleaning service from its bases in Edinburgh and Glasgow, with some of its notable clients including National Museums Scotland, the BBC, and Sainsbury’s. As well as domestic cleaning services, the business covers large commercial cleaning and property maintenance contracts.
Through the lockdown, Flexiclean has also been offering a full coronavirus deep clean service, which several businesses have utilised to get back up and running over recent weeks and months. The company has invested in the most up-to-date cleaning technologies to deliver decontamination services to the highest standards, ensuring sterilisation of all touch points, surfaces, equipment and floors.
Speaking to the Leaders Council’s Matthew O’Neill, Quintero said: “It has been an unprecedented time. While our regular contracts were being cancelled or postponed, we have seen a small increase in the demand for deep cleaning, hence we launched the full coronavirus deep clean service.”
Although Flexiclean has been playing its part throughout lockdown, Quintero nonetheless remains cautious of the impact that the Covid-19 pandemic will ultimately have on the services industry.
“We are making it through but there will be ramifications in the services sector because of some businesses having to close down that cannot get through this time.”
