Earlier this year, 27 staff members of Countrywide Tax & Trust Corporation’s CTT Group brand took part in a Midnight Walking Marathon to raise funds for the British Red Cross’ Ukraine Crisis Appeal.
Led by CTT Accountancy director, Amy O’Keeffe and manager Lucy Miles, the team embarked on a 26.2 mile walk around Leamington Spa on Friday June 24, finishing the route in the early hours of Saturday June 25.
The sponsored marathon was first conceived after long-time CTT employee Kinga Musialik visited Poland and encountered refugees fleeing the war in neighbouring Ukraine. Moved by the accounts of those fortunate enough to have escaped the violence, Musialik told her colleagues back in the UK of the stories of those survivors she had encountered, leaving the CTT team feeling compelled to do what it could to help those affected.
Through the sponsored marathon, the 27-strong team raised an incredible £10,000 which is being channelled into helping those in need who have fled the horrors of war.
It was also an incredible turnout from the CTT team, after O’Keeffe and Miles had expected to be undertaking the marathon walk alone.
O’Keeffe recalled: “We did not expect to have 25 people wanting to join us which was really encouraging and motivating. What a good job it was that we did have the others join us as it was definitely the team spirit and positive attitude all around which kept us going!
“We’re extremely proud of our fundraisers and couldn’t be more grateful for all the support and donations, meaning we have raised an incredible £10,000 for the British Red Cross. They have a network of phenomenal staff and volunteers who are uniquely placed to deliver emergency help in Ukraine.”
