The Covid-19 outbreak has now meant that roughly 25 per cent of the world's population live in some form of lockdown.

In other news, since the health secretary's call for volunteers just 18 hours ago, more than 170,000 people in the UK have come forward to support the NHS.

Parliament is also expected to close tonight, after emergency legislation passes through the lords. The Leaders Council also understands that just moments ago, palace officials have stated that Prince Charles has tested positive for Covid-19.

Global cases of the virus now exceed 400,000, with the confirmed death toll around the world close to 20,000.

India and its population of 1.3 billion went into full lockdown at midnight last night, and prime minister Narendra Modi said that there was a "total ban" on people leaving their homes.

In the US, lawmakers have agreed a stimulus package supposedly worth as much as $2 trillion, but further details are yet to be released.

The next Leaders Council update will follow after the press conference this evening.
