The Duke of Sussex has disclosed he ought to be referred to simply as Harry following plans to drop the SussexRoyal brand earlier this month.

Speaking at a Travalyst event in Edinburgh, host Ayesha Hazarika told the audience that he had “made it clear that we are all just to call him Harry."

Previously he would be referred to as either Sir or His Royal Highness at formal events.

Harry, who is referred to as the Earl of Dumbarton when in Scotland, voiced his concerns that tourism is proving detrimental to the environment.

The duke is the founder of the Travalyst coalition, working with brands such as Booking.com and Visa among others.

He continued, stating that Scotland’s tourism industry was at the “forefront” of sustainability for the sector.

The Duke of Sussex said: “We want to hear truths and perspectives from across the industry.

“We don’t need to reinvent the wheel, a lot of great work has already been done. But our research again shows that many of these endeavours have failed to reach the conscientiousness of consumers.”

He advocated for tourism and travel businesses to work together in planning for a sustainable future.

Harry continued that destinations will have to shut to worldwide visitors if they do not start to behave in a more sustainable manner.

Harry and his wife Meghan will formally move away from all royal duties on 31 March.

They will be allowed to maintain the HRH title, however, will no longer be able to actively use it. Their Scottish title of Earl and Countess of Dumbarton will continue.

While Harry continues to be a Prince, he has requested he is known as Harry, Duke of Sussex.

The speech marked one of Prince Harry’s final official engagements as part of the Royal Family.

He and Meghan will now divide their time between North America and the UK while they parent their son, Archie.
