August sees Radical Sportscars expand into New Zealand

The latest models produced by racing-sportscar manufacturer Radical Sportscars will arrive in New Zealand before the end of August, with Auckland-based firm GB Motorsports announced as Radical’s first dealer in the country.

The New Zealand appointment is the latest of several notable Radical dealerships made worldwide in the last 12 months, including in the Philippines, Australia West, and the US state of Arizona.

Its latest dealer, GB Motorsports, was established in 1994 by racer Greg Brinck and has also served as New Zealand’s Aston Martin Racing distributor.

The upcoming Radical SR10 and SR3 XX models will be showcased for the first time in the Oceania market, with SR10 billed to be Radical’s most cutting-edge race-car to date, raising standards for performance and usability. Meanwhile, the SR3 XX model is the latest and smartest iteration of Radical’s best-selling race-car.

The team will support existing and new owners in New Zealand, including a racer base in the country which contests the New Zealand Sportscar Championship, along with a programme of track-day support at the country’s Hampton Downs and Highlands Motorsport Park venues.

Radical New Zealand will collaborate with the teams at both venues to develop their exclusive GT Club membership with Radical owners, giving access to the tracks for up to 80 days per year along with numerous other member benefits.

GB Motorsports founder Brinck commented: “It is a real privilege to be representing Radical Sportscars here in New Zealand.

“The Radical is a track focused car and provides the ultimate driving experience for drivers of all skill levels. New Zealanders have a great passion for special cars and motorsport and Radical offers super-car performance and handling at a fraction of the cost. I am confident that we will have strong interest here.

“We have world class track facilities available to us in New Zealand. The Hampton Downs and Highlands GT Membership model provides an ideal platform for Radical owners. We look forward to introducing prospective customers to Radical for the first time through our demonstrator program and over time, introducing a Radical race series like those currently running successfully around the world.”

Radical Sportscars' global sales director Dan Redpath said: “Radical has long harboured ambitions of representation in New Zealand, but it was important for us to pair with a business with a real understanding of, and track-side experience in the New Zealand motorsport community.

“In Radical New Zealand and Greg Brinck, we are confident that we have the right, dynamic partner to develop not only Radical’s presence in New Zealand, but also motorsport and recreational driving as a whole. With his comprehensive programme of track-days, race tuition and existing championship support it’s a winning combination.”
