Popular antique store Antiques on High has been named Best Nationwide High Street Antique Centre 2022, the Westmorland Gazette has reported.
“Thrilled to bits” by the latest award win for his business, owner Vincent Page was pleased to regain the very same accolade that Antiques on High had won just two years earlier.
He told the Westmorland Gazette: “We won the award two years ago and I was taken aback then, but we must be doing something right to be given the award a second time around.
“Winning yet another award is a pat on the back for us and recognition of the work involved as far as we are concerned.”
For Vincent, the award came as worthy recognition of the commitment that he and his partner, Lesley, have put into running the Antiques on High brand.
Its chain of stores includes three shops up and down the country, including in locations such as Bowness-on-Windermere, Oxford and Sidmouth in Devon.
Vincent recalled that opening of the Bowness branch in May 2021 was a decision that some considered to be “bordering on madness”, particularly since he and Lesley have often attended all three locations in the same working day.
“On more than one occasion in the last few months we have been at all three stores in one day before going home, covering more than 475 miles in less than 24 hours as well as running a shop for a day,” Vincent said.
“If that level of commitment is what it takes, then so be it.”
The duo has no intentions of stopping either. Indeed, the Westmorland Gazette adds that they are planning to expand the Antiques on High brand in a new venture that will see the couple “head home”.
Everybody at The Leaders Council would like to congratulate Vincent, Lesley and the Antiques on High team, and wishes them all the very best of luck with the next expansion!
