Hale Place Care Solutions
In 1988, Kevin Hewlett entered the care sector, marking the beginning of his journey by registering his first care home. Transitioning from a finance background, he initiated the registration process for his inaugural bed and assumed the registered manager role.
The roots of his commitment to meaningful work can be traced back to his experience working night shifts in his mother-in-law's care home. This early exposure laid the foundation for a career dedicated to enhancing the lives of people living with dementia through quality personalisedsed care that primarily focussed on enjoying life.
Despite facing initial challenges as a small family home, Hewlett's perseverance led him to diversify. He ran a care home cleaning business, worked for care associations, directed a charitable training centre, and established his own social care training centre, which operated for 12 years and received an excellent Ofsted report.
Under Hewlett's leadership, Hale Place developed into one of England's most decorated care providers accumulating 21 national awards and multiple finalist nominations. The home's emphasis on 'Happy Lives for Everyone' and person-centred delivery earned national recognition with accolades such as the Quality Care Award, Person Centred Award, Management Team, and Care Home of the Year Awards.
Hewlett's commitment to innovation is apparent in the continuous improvement of Hale Place's environment, incorporating technology for safety and supportive measures. His sons, Dudley and Barney, play integral roles in operations and property management, reflecting a family values approach that extends to staff appreciation events, outings and loyalty bonuses.
Kevin Hewlett's outstanding contributions have earned him prestigious awards, including the Lifetime Achievement and Outstanding Contribution awards. In a culmination of recognition for his services to people with dementia, he was honured with an MBE in 2023. Kevin Hewlett's journey is a testament to his unwavering dedication to excellence, continuous improvement, and the profound impact he has made on the lives of vulnerable people.
