Career Overview

Jeanette Phillips is CEO at Flexicare UK Ltd. a care provider who ensure indivduals receive due care in their workplaces, at home or on holiday. Alongside acting as CEO of Flexicare Phillips recently received her PG Certificate from the University of Birmingham.

In March 2020, Jeanette Phillips appeared on a Leaders Council of Great Britain and Northern Ireland podcast, discussing the importance of leadership and the role it has played in her career to date.

Getting Started

My nursing career started in 1975 with cadet nursing, followed by Orthopaedic Nursing for 20 months and then on to General Nurse Training. (SRN). Throughout my career I have always had a passion for movement and its effects on general health. In total completed five years of training, qualifying on the 21st July 1981.

Studying to become a nurse involved a lot of reading of huge books as the internet had not been invented at the time.

We learned from our predecessors and quick thinking and action was needed to keep moving forward and progressing with knowledge.

Building Flexicare UK

After qualifying as a Registered Nurse, I decided to specialise in Care of the Elderly and studied for my ENB 941 Care of the Elderly post registration. I have always loved helping older citizens to enjoy health and well being and to maximise their mobility and health.

Flexicare UK was founded with one client, and quickly expanded into a recognisable brand of excellence, whereby Personal Assistants were well trained and compassionate.

I thoroughly enjoyed building up and expanding the brand, and this included in various parts of the country.

Over the last few years I have worked in research and development following a two year post graduate course at Birmingham University, studying Public Sector Commissioning.

Birmingham University.

I applied to Birmingham University and was very surprised to be offered an interview at the age of 52; however I enjoyed the course, made great friends and were able to set up a research company to help Flexicare UK to develop into the model of tomorrow...

After University I joined Westminster Health Forum and regularly visited health and social care shows around the country, speaking in 2018 in Birmingham about Flu vaccinations.

I am passionate about ensuring a safe, effective, responsive, compassionate and well led service is developed through Flexicare UK Ltd. In early 2018, Flexicare UK was deemed “Outstanding” by the CQC and we received a letter from Jeremy Hunt the Health and Social Care Minister at the time.
