Ayesha Vardag launched Vardags in 2005 and sat as managing director for the first nine years of its existence before taking on the role of president in October 2014. Under her leadership, Vardags has blossomed into a top law firm working exclusively for private companies and high-net-worth clients - mainly holding assets of £1 million or more in value and/or having an annual income in excess of £300,000.

Vardags has handled some of the highest profile cases of the last decade in the High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court, and is adept at managing the press where necessary to help keep some cases out of the public eye. Ayesha’s work in this arena has often been cited as being ground-breaking and legislation changing. She is famed for being instrumental in making prenuptials count in UK law, and is currently very much behind the UK No Fault Divorce Bill, set for motion in 2022. One of Ayesha’s most famous cases was the landmark 2010 Supreme Court case of Radmacher v Granatino.

Ayesha Vardag herself brings commercial law skills to divorce law and adopts a no-nonsense, human, and practical approach to getting things done by agreement where possible and failing that in fighting to win. She is unafraid to push against boundaries and is renowned for her empathetic approach toward clients and ferociously fighting their corner. She was once described in Tatler by Katrin Radmacher as a “fantastic” lawyer who “really cares” for her clients and their outcomes.

Before the Vardags days began, Ayesha worked in research shortly after graduating for the UN’s International Atomic Energy Agency. She partook in research into international nuclear energy law, producing building blocks for model nuclear legislation for the newly democratic Eastern states. She also participated in expert groups preparing the revised nuclear Liability Convention and new nuclear Safety Convention.

After this, she trained as a solicitor at global London-based law firm Linklaters starting in 1993, qualifying into project finance into multi-billion-dollar power stations and diamond mines. In 1997, she left to spend a short spell at Weil Gotshal & Manges, where she worked as a solicitor in the banking and capital markets.

From late 1999 to early 2000, Ayesha spent several months with 4 New Square as a pupil barrister, before taking a two-year sabbatical to look after her young children. She returned to the legal profession in 2002 with Sears Tooth, where she assisted divorce lawyer Raymond Tooth on big ticket cases.

Following ten months with Sears Tooth, Ayesha moved into education to lecture in family law at Queen Mary’s University of London. In the role, which she held until 2005, she lectured and supervised undergraduate students and devised the course and examination in family law for the university’s five-star law school. Upon leaving in 2005, Vardags was launched.

Ayesha frequently comments on divorce, family law and relationship issues on national and international media platforms. She has most recently appeared in New York Post, Mail on Sunday, Women’s Hour, BBC Radio 4, The Telegraph, The Sunday Times, BBC Radio London, Spears magazine as well as many others.

In August 2021, Ayesha appeared on a Leaders Council of Great Britain & Northern Ireland podcast, discussing the importance of leadership and the impact it has had on her career to date.
